What you pay, and what happens to it
- ₹250 — team selection fee
- Per player, paid when you submit the registration form. Your registration is complete once it is paid, and not before. It buys the player a place at a team selection day — the ground, the officials and the panel's time — which happens whether or not a squad place follows.
- Not refundable
- The team selection fee is not refunded, including when a player is not selected, is taken out at the family's request, or does not attend their selection day. It is stated before you pay, on the form and again at the payment step.
- If VECL cancels
- The term above covers a service we deliver. If we cancel — a selection day that does not run, or a season that does not start — that is a service not delivered, and the fee for it is refunded. A band that does not reach the numbers to run is the same: the ₹250 stands only if the selection day itself went ahead.
- How it is paid
- By UPI or card, in rupees, through Razorpay in the app. We never take a payment over the phone and never ask for card details by message.
Washouts
Matches are weather-dependent. A match abandoned to weather is not guaranteed a replay: the season calendar carries two spare Sundays to absorb washouts, and once those are used the result stands as the competition rules provide.
A team selection day lost to weather is different — that is a service you paid for specifically. It is rescheduled to the reserve Sunday, and if it cannot run at all the ₹250 is refunded.
Risk, heat, and what happens if a player is hurt
Cricket is a hard-ball sport played on turf. Sprains, breaks, and blows from a ball or a bat are part of the game at every level, and no amount of supervision removes that. Registering a player is an acceptance that they take part knowing it.
- Tell us about medical conditions
- Asthma, allergies, diabetes, epilepsy, a heart condition, a recent concussion, anything a coach would need to know in a hurry — put it in the notes when you register, and tell us if it changes. We cannot act on what we were not told.
- Emergency treatment
- If a player is hurt and we cannot reach you quickly, we will get them the medical help they need and keep trying to reach you. Registering a player is your consent to that. You are responsible for the cost of any treatment.
- Head knocks
- A player who takes a blow to the head comes off and does not go back on that day, whatever they or anyone else says about feeling fine. They return only when a doctor says so, in writing. This is not negotiable and it is not a judgement about how tough a player is.
- Heat
- Chennai in March and April is hot, and a playing day can run to the evening. Officials may shorten an innings, extend a break, move a start time or stop play outright when conditions make it unsafe. That decision is theirs and it is final. Send every player with more water than you think they need.
- Illness
- Keep an unwell player at home. A missed match is a missed match; an outbreak through four squads is a season.
What a player must have to take the field
The league provides the playing shirt. Everything a player wears for their own protection is the family's to supply, and an umpire will not let a player bat or keep without it.
- Helmet
- Compulsory for every player batting, and for a wicketkeeper standing up to the stumps. It must have a faceguard, and it must fit — a borrowed helmet a size too big protects nobody.
- Also required
- Pads, batting gloves and an abdominal guard for batting; keeping gloves and pads for a wicketkeeper. Proper cricket footwear, no bare feet and no sandals.
- Fitting out a player
- If the cost of equipment is what stands between a player and a season, tell us before you decide against registering. We would rather find a way than lose the player.
Bats and other gear are the player's own responsibility. The league does not insure personal equipment and cannot replace what is lost or damaged at a ground.
Who is responsible for a player, and when
- Before and after play
- A player is in your care until they are handed to a coach at the ground, and again from the end of their commitments that day. We are not a drop-off service and we cannot supervise a child left at a ground before or after their match.
- Leaving early
- Tell the team's coach in person. A child who cannot be found at the end of a day is the worst afternoon a league can have, and it is entirely avoidable.
- Who works with players
- Coaches and officials working with under-18 players are appointed by the league, and are expected to hold themselves to the conduct standard below. Any concern about the behaviour of an adult at a VECL ground should come to us directly and in confidence — see the complaints section.
- One-to-one contact
- Coaching happens in the open, where it can be seen. Staff do not message players privately; anything that needs saying goes to the parent's number on the registration.
- Transport
- Getting a player to and from a ground is the family's. League staff do not transport players.
Age, and how we check it
Age bands are the point of a graded league, so the age a player is entered at has to be right. At enrolment we sight a proof of age — an Aadhaar, a school ID, a birth certificate or a passport.
We record that it was checked and by whom. We do not record the number, and we do not keep a copy or a photograph of the document. Holding identity documents for a few hundred children would create a risk this league neither needs nor could properly protect, so the system is built not to store them.
A player entered in the wrong band is moved to the right one. If that is discovered after the draft, the panel decides whether they play on in the correct band or sit the season out; fees already paid are dealt with under the rules above.
Where a player's picture can appear
Cricket is photographed, and a league without pictures of it is a league nobody can see. We treat two uses as separate things and ask about them separately:
- Coaching record
- Video and stills captured to review a player's technique, kept in their own record and seen by their coaches and their family. This is what the academy's training media consent covers.
- Public and promotional
- Team photographs, match action and presentation-day pictures used on this website, in the app and on the league's social media. This is a separate marketing consent, and one does not imply the other.
You can withdraw either consent at any time from your account in the app, or by writing to us. If a photograph is already published and you want it removed, email us and we will take it down — you do not need to give a reason.
What we hold, and who sees it
- What we collect
- The player's name and date of birth, their age band and playing details, your name, mobile number and email address, and anything you choose to tell us in the notes.
- Why
- To select squads, run the season, and contact you about it. The registration is the record; there is no separate mailing list you are added to by registering.
- Who sees it
- League staff and the selection panel. Payment details are handled by Razorpay and never reach us — we see that a payment succeeded and for how much, not the card.
- What we do not hold
- Identity document numbers or images, and card details.
- How long
- For as long as the player is involved with the league, and afterwards as the record of a season that was played. Ask us to delete a registration and we will, subject to the accounting records we are required to keep.
- Your account
- Your registration lives in your own app account: you can correct it and see exactly where it stands. To take a player out of the season, tell us — we do it, and we ask why, because that is how the league finds out what is not working.
What we expect, from everyone
Players, coaches, officials and families are all part of the same afternoon. We expect the umpire's decision to be accepted without argument, opponents and team-mates to be treated the same way, and the sideline to be somewhere a child wants to walk past.
Abuse of an official, a coach, a player or another parent — on the ground or online — ends involvement with the league. That applies to adults at least as much as to players, and no fee is refunded where it is applied.
Selection is the panel's decision and it is final. If you want to understand why a decision went the way it did, ask us and we will tell you honestly.
How to raise it, and what we do with it
A first season will get things wrong. What matters is whether a family can say so and be answered.
- Where to send it
- Email accounts@elitecricketacademy.co.in or call the number below. Put it in writing if you can — not for formality, but because a written account does not shift with retelling.
- What we do
- We acknowledge it, look into it, and tell you what we found and what we are doing about it. If we got it wrong we will say so.
- Anything about a child's safety
- Goes straight to the League Director and is dealt with immediately, not in turn. If a matter belongs with the police or a child protection authority, we report it — that is not a decision we weigh against the league's reputation.
- What a complaint cannot change
- A selection decision or an umpire's decision on the day. You are entitled to an honest explanation of either, and you will get one; you are not entitled to have it reversed.
Changes, cancellation and the law that applies
- Dates and grounds can move
- Every date on this site comes from the season plan, and the ground is still being contracted. We will tell every registered family directly when something changes, rather than expecting you to notice a page has been edited.
- If a band does not run
- Covered under fees above: a band that does not reach the numbers is merged upward or held over, you hear it from us, and the ₹250 stands only where the selection day itself went ahead.
- If we have to cancel the season
- Anything you have paid for something that then does not happen is refunded. The ₹250 is the exception only in the sense that it buys the selection day rather than the season: it stands where that day went ahead, and is refunded where it did not.
- Changes to these terms
- If we change anything on this page that affects what you have already paid for, we will email every registered family and say what changed. Small corrections we simply make.
- Where you stand legally
- VECL India is run from Chennai by Elite Cricket Group, and these terms are governed by Indian law. Nothing here takes away a right you have under Indian consumer law that cannot be signed away.
